School Sections
The Kalutara Vidyalaya has long been renowned for its focus on Academics and all other priorities of the vidyalaya, be they co-curricular or extra-curricular, are always developed with the focus of supplementing and improving on the academic experience of its students.
Primary Section - Grade 1-5
Focused on providing a strong foundation for young students for skills to be built on. Students receive basic language skills, mathematics, and sciences, with a priority on improving social skills.
Junior Section - Grade 6-7
Provides students with a diverse education in arts, humanities, and sciences. Students have the opportunity to craft their own path and choose their curriculum.
Middle Section - Grade 8-9
Continues to offer diverse education and curriculum choices, with a focus on preparing students for the Middle Section.
Ordinary Level Section - Grade 10-11
Focused on Ordinary level General certificate of education examinations. After-school classes are available for certain subjects. Emphasis on participation in clubs, societies, and sports.
Advanced Level Section - Grade 12-13
The heart of the viyalaya. Divided into four streams: Mathematics, Science, Commerce, and Arts. Students receive practical and theoretical knowledge in their chosen stream.
